Lyon Creek Bypass and Stream Restoration Project

We were contracted by the City of Lake Forest Park to provide a geotechnical evaluation and consultation services for this mitigation project that consisted of replacing existing large culverts associated with Lyon Creek as it flows under the existing parking lots within the Lake Forest Park Town Center and Bothell Way NE (State Route 522), on its way to Lake Washington.

The project also included wetland and streambank improvements. The intent of the planned improvements is to reduce the severity and occurrence of flooding in the area.

With high groundwater encountered in our explorations, we provided recommendations to aid in groundwater control while excavating and shoring the new culverts.

We also aided in providing various options for culvert design installation, as well as pavement design within the town center, subgrade, and creek bank protection.

Location: Lake Forest Park, WA
